About

origami black and whiteMany years ago, in the middle of the night, I awoke with what I hoped would one day be the title of a book. This fortunate event, the summoning of a title within the middle of sleep, occurred after a series of conversations with a writer friend, and thus a seed was planted.  Book or not, a creative endeavor entitled Folding Origami for God was born.

While much time passed before even the smallest steps were taken to turn an idea into a reality, I carried this new found title nearest to me each and every day, like a secret gift held close to the heart.

Immediately after my daughter’s diagnosis with Sanfilippo Syndrome, my entire reality changed in an instant, like the snapping of a frozen tree branch in the deepest of winter; swift and finite.   But along with those changes came a heightened yearning to write.  And in my deepest slumber when Folding Origami for God came into existence,  I didn’t know what this title meant.  Finding a pencil in the dark proved more important than understanding. My hopes are for eventual understanding to come from these writings that I share with you here.

And so it is here where we meet.  Folding Origami for God.  I welcome you on this journey.

  1. Jojo! This is awesome. I can’t wait to hear more of these moments you’ve had and remember. It’s a window into your world and Sasha’s and I appreciate you letting us into it. That moment in OT when Sasha stopped playing the ball tower…. it was really vivid reading it. I could sense you thinking through reasons, searching for some rational explanation.
